Identity thief a comedy movie directed by Seth Gordon and it was released in 2013. Its characters has movie stars Jason Bateman who is Sandy Peterson and Mellisa McCarthy who is Dianna who was making a leaving out of stealing people’s identities but she finds herself wanted by different people because of her criminal behavior.
Jason Bateman who is Sandy Peterson in the movie was leaving a comfortable life and was working in finance department at his work until he received a call that someone is trying to steal his identity so he has to make his identity secured little did he know that it was a trick used by Mellisa McCartthy who is Dianna the identity thief. The film becomes interesting when Sandy faced losing his job at his new place of work so he decided to prove himself that his identity was stolen to his boss and also the authorities because Dianna was committing crimes with Sandy’s identity.
Dianna being the identity thief, she performed best because no one would suspect her of committing such crime. She appeared to be a responsible citizen leaving her best life because when she sees that she exhausted someone’s finances she would also find another victim. Dianna being an energetic person and unpredictable she finds herself wanted many people including gang leaders because of her criminal offenses. When Sandy finally meet Dianna he thought it was going to go smooth as he planned but he finds himself in trouble because when he was going back with Dianna they faced obstacles on their way.
The movie becomes interesting when Sandy wanted to clear his name but at first Dianna wasn’t cooperating until she finds herself being wanted by dangerous people that is when she voluntarily agrees to Sandy that she stole his identity. On their way they run out of money so Sandy and Dianna decided to scam a bank using Dianna’s skill which they successfully did but they later found themselves in the hands of the police whom they successfully escaped and went to Sandy’s home. Dianna’s attitude towards life was because she had no one to care and love for her.
Although the film is excellent, it also has its shortcomings because some parts were not making sense on how Dianna was not injured when she was involved in an accident but the drivers was unconscious. The film also was bringing unnecessary scenes which made the movie take longer to end.
Identity thief a movie full of drama, crime and adventure succeeds. Although it has its weaknesses, l would recommend it to people who enjoy comedy , crime and adventure . I would give it 7/10.
