A 2026 Netflix psychological thriller being directed by Malcom D Lee who brings best scenetic scenes on the screen. With its casts including a movie star Chloe Bailey who is playing Laila a struggling violin player who is ambitious to change her life through music and ends up taking tutoring job. One would think Lynn Whitfield who is Audra is a family leader but as the movie goes on there will be mystery and family secrets around her family home.
Strung is a thriller where a struggling violin player Laila find a tutoring job at a wealthy family but the family is full of secrets, trauma and mystery. Laila found herself in a situation where she would fight for her survival in the house because it wasn’t what she thought it was from outside as she was getting herself in trouble because she was slowly discovering the family’s secrets.
Chloe Baley who is Laila in the movie played her role excellent because at first she was an ambitious girl who wanted a better life for herself that’s why she took the tutoring job and later on that ambition for a better life led her to have a romantic relationship with Marcus her boss’s husband. Laila’s student Zuri was a child who was traumatized by her father’s death and always finds comfort in a musk her father left for her. Lynn Whitfield who is Audra in the movie is also an important character because one would think that she was the family leader and also appears to be generous to Laila but Audra brings all the mystery of the movie.
Audra’s family residing at a luxurious home one would think the family had all the peace but the house was full of mystery and Imani the owner of the house didn’t know what was happening in her home all she focused on was her daughter Zuri and her marriage with Marcus. All the house interior was showing how wealthy was the family and also the choice of the music which was jazz and hip hop also brought different lifestyles of the cast.
The movie also had its short comings as the movie was giving some hints as the movie was playing because a thriller has to have many twists and suspense before the end. Marcus and Imani marital affair was however underdeveloped because most the scene they are together they are just sitting at the dinning table and their chemistry is so shallow. In addition Jasmine who is Laila’s friend there are few scenes of her it seems the movie director wanted to portray how Laila was struggling because before having the tutoring job Jasmine was accommodating her.
The movie had family secrets, twist and some childhood trauma on most of the cast which can also apply to our daily lives which is worth watching by anyone who loves movies with complicated family and romance. Strung also had talented cast which make the movie come to light and l would rate it 8/10 and is worth watching.
The movie Strung brings the family secrets and also brings the unpredictable casts to fight over the inheritance which brought Laila’s life in danger because she seemed to discover most of the truth about the family.
